Officially, my job was to:
- "provide technical support to those departmental staff housed outside the main building (comprising one of the department's larger research groups) including: installation of software; troubleshooting and problem solving; assisting staff members in the use of departmental systems; basic hardware fault diagnosis and maintenance."
- "provide support for the department's Linux systems, augmenting the department's existing Linux support team"
It was a combination of system administration, support, and software development, on Linux, Solaris and Windows.
